The Midlands Prison Extension Scheme consists of a number of separate elements, which are summarised as follows:
- 3-storey Cell Block
- A link corridor to Midlands Prison Central Hub
- Energy building
- New kitchen to service 1000 prisoners
- New education facilities (8 classrooms) and works
MJP acted as the fire safety consultant to Glenbeigh Construction, who undertook the project under a Design-Build Contract to a value of approximately €23.7 million. The design included CFD modelling using the NIST FDS/PyroSIM smoke movement model, together with on-site testing of the completed system.
The project was completed on time and handed over to the Irish Prison Service.
