The Mayson project skillfully reimagines two heritage sites: a townhouse from 1860 and an industrial warehouse built in 1870, both protected for their historical value. Navigating the constraints of these protected structures, the architects melded the old with the new in a 45,000-square-foot expansion. This modern development features 94 sophisticated bedrooms and suites across seven floors, including two below ground and six above, making it one of the city’s premier destinations. It hosts exclusive dining and drinking spots like Elephant & Castle and Ryeleigh’s Rooftop Grill, a fitness centre, event spaces, and a serene outdoor courtyard, establishing it as a trendsetting and popular hotel. The initiative was marked by a strong commitment to preserving historical integrity while adding a contemporary seven-story building.
