Google EMEA HQ is designed to create a rich, innovative work environment in Dublin. The Google campus in Barrow Street currently consists of 2000 employees. Google’s Dublin office is the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) Operations Headquarters, with more than 25 countries represented.

The fit-out of the new Google European Middle Eastern & African HQ on Barrow Street encompasses the combining of 3 existing commercial buildings, including Google Docks (Montevetro), Gordon House & The Gasworks. The project includes many challenging aspects with swimming pools, gymnasium, wellness centre, catering facilities, auditoriums, and sky bridge connecting the three buildings on campus, all at varying levels and including the full fit-out and refurbishment of the c 40,000 m2 of commercial office space. The project is considered one of the most substantial commercial redevelopments ever undertaken in the country.

MJP provided fire engineering services in relation to due diligence with respect to fire safety compliance during the acquisition of Montevetro and subsequently was appointed to provide fire safety and disability access consultancy services for the integration of the campus blocks, including subsequent fit-out works, including;

Egress modelling to validate required occupant numbers

Smoke movement and fire spread modelling of atrium feature

Structural response modelling to optimise applied fire protection in the alteration works

The accessibility design for the project will see significant design improvements of the existing streetscape, building entrances, vertical circulation, and use of the building’s wealth of facilities with state-of-the-art intelligent communication systems to ensure the building’s potential is optimised by all.
